Canon: Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon (Anime)
Character: Tsukino Usagi/Eternal Sailor Moon
Timeline: end of R season, fight against Wiseman/Death Phantom [now updated to end of series]

Personality:

Usagi is a very normal girl. She's cheerful, friendly, outgoing, warm, open, and trusting. She draws people to her with her sincerity and kindness - when she's not being a bit immature, lazy, and clumsy, or bickering with her friends about whatever they're arguing about this time. She gives people not only second chances, but endless chances, and approaches even the people others are nervous about coming close to or unwilling to befriend.

That's the Usagi most people see. But behind the obvious, her good points and her flows both deepen.

Her need for friendships leads Usagi to give up on things she must do anyway if she loses that impetus. She has trouble going on if they're gone. (A part of this, it should be noted, is a lack of confidence in herself that belies the cheerful, hopeful girl she presents herself as.) Although normally open about her emotions, she mistakes that as a part of her immaturity and sometimes chooses the most inappropriate times to try to tough things out on her own. Her sincere love for her boyfriend leads her to quite seriously say she doesn't care about anything else, even the world she protects as Sailor Moon, by comparison. She is jealous to the point of resenting her own future daughter for dividing his attention.

However, it must be said that Usagi is very quick to recognize these more petty sides of herself, and she loathes them to the point of trying to correct them immediately when they crop up. She is remarkably quick to pass from regretting her weaknesses to enthusiastically planning to banish them and remarkably self-perceptive about her own process of maturity.

And mature, she does. By the time she's ready to finish the fight against the Black Moon, Usagi herself realizes that she can no longer be the whiny crybaby who refuses to stand up because she just doesn't want to put in the effort or because she's scared. Despite her excessive attachment to her boyfriend, when the choice must truly be made, Usagi is willing to even lay down her life for the planet and her friends, considering it not only right but obvious that it's fine for herself to die if it saves everyone else. In a way, it's bred into her; she trains her daughter the same way, both in the present and the future, just as her mother the Queen of the Moon long ago considered her life a small thing compared to peace on Earth and the Moon. While this outlook is naive, it works for Usagi; she does not stop at the naive assumption that people are good and things will work out, but instead decides the good will happen, and fights to make it so. Her belief spawns belief in others because of that effort and strength.

Background:

Long, long ago, there was a kingdom on the Moon. But evil forces from Earth overthrew and destroyed it. The Queen of the Moon, in a last effort to save what little she could, used the last of her strength to send her daughter, her daughter's lover, and her daughter's guardians into the future to be reborn on Earth...

Thousands of years later, Tsukino Usagi was a very ordinary girl who was late to school every day, argued with her brother, wanted to lose weight, and loved hanging out with her friends but hated school and homework. Then she met Luna.

Luna was a talking black cat from the Moon who revealed that Usagi was Sailor Moon, a soldier from that long-ago kingdom on the Moon, chosen to fight the protesct the princess. Usagi was scared and clumsy at first, but gradually grew into her role, and soon gained confidence as she met her allies Sailor Mercury (school genius Mizuno Ami), Sailor Mars (beautiful shrine maiden Hino Rei), Sailor Jupiter (awesome cook and tough-girl Kino Makoto), and Sailor Venus (volleyball champ and idol wannabe Aino Minako).

But along with the girls, the enemy from the past had been revived, too, bent on destruction once more. So the girls fought the Dark Kingdom as they searched for the princess. She was closer than they thought. Usagi herself was the princess, and her acrimonious bickering with Chiba Mamoru turned out to be fated as well: He was Endymion, the prince of Earth the moon princess had loved. He was kidnapped to the Dark Kingdom and turned against Sailor Moon and her friends, until the very end.

That end came when the Dark Kingdom was very close to overrunning Earth after all and the soldiers, to stop them, infiltrated the Dark Kingdom entrance point near the North Pole. One by one, each girl sacrificed herself to bring Sailor Moon closer to the final battle, which she faced alone until she managed to heal Mamoru. Beryl was destroyed, but at the cost of everything, even the princess', Usagi's, own life. Usagi died wishing to be normal.

Wishes made with the ginzuishou are powerful. All the girls were revived, but with no memory of their battles or even their friendships. But soon after, strange incidents started occurring in Tokyo again after the crash of a mysterious UFO around the same time two transfer students, Eil and An (who took fake names on Earth) moved into Usagi's school. They turned out to be on Earth to collect energy from humans to keep the tree that gave them life alive.

Usagi was re-awakened first. She tried to fight alone so that the others could continue having normal lives, but in the end she needed their help against the enemy, and the other soldiers remembered fighting with her and even dying with her. Only Mamoru remained ignorant of the past, despite Usagi's best efforts, though a man strangely like him and his alter ego Tuxedo Kamen, this one called the Moonlight Knight, appeared to help Sailor Moon.

After several of the energy-gathering schemes were thwarted, the tree itself took matters into its own hands and revealed that it was not meant to be fed on energy like that, but on the energy of love between the beings it called its children, the race Eil and An came from. Sailor Moon purified the tree, and Eil and An were given a new start even as Mamoru and Usagi were reunited as he finally remembered her as his past and present love. The Moonlight Knight, the part of him that had wanted to protect Usagi even without remembering, was merged with the whole man once more.

The peace of reunion was not to last. In fact, their kiss to seal their renewed relationship was interrupted by a little pink-haired girl falling from the sky on top of them... and turning up at Usagi's house later, brainwashing the family into believing she was their relative. Mamoru broke up with Usagi, quite abruptly and inexplicably, shortly afterward. Usagi, bewildered and confused, broke down but forced herself to keep going when once again, strange incidents and attacks were occurring throughout Tokyo, culminating in the abduction of all four senshi, leaving Sailor Moon alone again.

Gradually, it came out that the little girl was perhaps more victim than aggressor; she was being chased by this new enemy, a clan from the tenth planet, Nemesis, full of dark energy. A trip to the future revealed the rest: the little girl Chibi-Usa was the daughter of Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion, the future forms of Usagi and Mamoru. And Mamoru breaking up with Usagi had been instigated by the king, who had sent Mamoru terrible nightmares of the danger he and Usagi would face. Mamoru had stayed away to protect her.

At last the senshi were freed, though not until after Usagi herself had been kidnapped by the infatuated Black Moon prince, and the final piece fell into place. The Black Moon had been more deceived than deceiver; their sage the Wiseman had been manipulating them to his own ends to bring destruction to them and the peaceful new kingdom on Earth both.

But it was late. Chibi-Usa had already been taken by the enemy, who tampered with her memories and gave her power to become Black Lady, the Queen of Darkness. In that form, she antagonized her former family and helped the Wiseman's plans to destroy Earth - what use was it to her, now? Usagi, heartbroken, finally managed to reach her, and both fought Wiseman together, defeating him only with the greatest power of the ginzuishou.

Usagi, with Chibi-Usa, found herself washed in warm light. The two had only a few moments to discuss whether they had died after all - and that it was fine even if they had, if everyone was safe - before Usagi found herself not in the afterlife, but in a different world.

Abilities/Additional Notes:

Disguise Pen: As it sounds, Usagi's disguise pen lets her disguise herself as anything from a kindergarten teacher to a boat captain. It also seems to temporarily give her minor abilities related to the disguise; for example, when she transformed into a ship captain it was to be able to steer the ship she was escaping on with Sailor Venus.

Moon Crystal Power, Make-Up: This is Usagi's transformation phrase to turn her into Sailor Moon. As Sailor Moon, she doesn't seem to gain much coordination or strength, though she is occasionally seen performing feats that would be difficult for an average person, making it hard to say for sure. It's in this form that she can use her magical attacks, and the disguise also protects her identity.

Moon Princess Halation: This is Usagi's chief attack at the point of her timeline coming to the game. Like most of her 'attacks', it is meant to be healing: it purifies the creature or the dark energy in it.

Ginzuishou: With the ginzuishou, a crystal of near-infinite power, Usagi has been known to destroy extremely powerful enemies, divert the path of asteroids, restore a half-destroyed town, give an animal a human form, and even revive the dead. At her timeline point, she has only used it in desperation to defeat the enemy before the world can be destroyed. Its power really depends on what she puts into it; if she puts too much of herself into it, she will also die as she uses it. At her strongest, she uses the crystal as Princess Serenity, her form from the past.

Sample Journal Post:

Everyone? I don't know where I am. It's rundown and this part looks almost deserted. It doesn't look like anywhere I've seen in Tokyo.

I was right there with you guys, wasn't I? Did Wiseman do something? But this doesn't look like the Black Moon's base, either.

Mercury? Mars? Jupiter? Venus?!

Is everyone alright? Is Chibi-Usa with you? Is Mamo-chan? Please?

Sample RP:

Usagi was not dead. Although, as the various parts of her body presented$ their bills of excruciating pain for immediate payment, she might almost have wished she were. Then she realized she was also not there.

"Chibi-Usa!" Usagi's voice panicked, but returned without finding its mark. Where was Chibi-Usa? Where was everyone?

"Everyone...?" The panic was already stripped bare, the voice empty with the awful finality of it. She was alone. Ami wouldn't ask her to study, Rei wouldn't bicker with her, Mako wouldn't cook them all snacks for the next meeting, Minako wouldn't drag her off to the hairdresser next time they both needed cheering up.

And Mamoru. Tuxedo Kamen. Prince Endymion. King Endymion. Mamo-chan. In the thick of battle, she'd clung to the thought of being with all of them again. But now the battle was over, and for the first time, she wasn't in their arms exchanging smiles and wiping away each other's tears.

She started to cry, softly, arms wrapped around herself for meager comfort. Then, several minutes later, she stood up. She had to find out where she was, and how to find her way back. It could even be an enemy trap, being sent to some bizarre place where everything looked as run-down as the future Crystal Tokyo under attack. Usagi walked onward.

(note: For the sake of adstring, I'm writing it as if she's using her senshi communicator to try to contact the others. It'd still be applicable for an in-adstring journal post, and was easier for the immediacy. Hope it's alright.)
